Spring Ephemeral Wildflowers Walk
Mike Zarfos, will lead a special spring walk celebrating the forest’s ephemeral wildflowers, those fleeting woodland blooms that appear for only a short time before the forest canopy leafs out and the forest floor returns to shade. Participants may encounter delicate blossoms such as trout lily, bloodroot, Dutchman’s breeches, red trillium, and jack-in-the-pulpit, each adapted to take advantage of the brief window of sunlight in early spring.
This walk offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the brief but spectacular awakening of the forest floor.
