Visit the Great Mountain Forest Sap House!
See how sap is transformed into maple syrup at the Great Mountain Forest sugar house, where cold nights and warm days set the stage for one of the year’s most anticipated forest traditions. Step inside to watch sap bubble into syrup and breathe in the rich, caramel scent of boiling sap, while learning how careful forest stewardship makes it all possible. It’s a cozy, educational stop for all ages and a true taste of early spring in the woods (samples available!). The weather needs to cooperate for the sap to run, so check the GMF events page for updates or call the forestry office (860-542-5422) before going.
