Great Mountain Forest River Survey Volunteer Day

Join us for a hands-on River Survey Volunteer Experience at GMF.

Explore the local watershed while contributing to vital environmental research and conservation. Led by experienced educator Tom Fahsbender, you’ll collect data on water quality, engage in the collection and identification of a variety of aquatic organisms and their connection to the health of the stream, and monitor environmental conditions—helping to protect the forest’s health.

What to Bring:

• Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes (you might get a little wet!)
• Water bottle and snacks
• Curiosity and a love for nature

No experience needed—just a willingness to learn! All ages and backgrounds are welcome.
