Course Overview

Allowing hunting on your land can be an effective tool for wildlife management, habitat protection, and community engagement, but it also comes with important responsibilities. This half-day course provides land managers with a clear overview of the regulatory, logistical, and ecological considerations involved in hosting hunters.

Participants will learn about Connecticut hunting laws, landowner liability protections, and best practices for setting clear expectations with hunters. The course will also explore how hunting fits into broader forest and wildlife management strategies, including managing deer impacts on forest regeneration and biodiversity.

Taught by professionals from DEEP and GMF, this course offers practical guidance, examples, and time for discussion to help landowners make informed decisions that align with their management goals and values.
